Northwest Arkansas Neighborhood Match Program 2023-2024

Donations were matched up to $15,000 for projects that leveraged or improved public spaces in Arkansas’ Benton and Washington counties, led by residents or small local nonprofits.Residents bring their communities to life with their great ideas for positive impact. If you live in Arkansas’ Benton & Washington Counties, this program will double up to $1,000 per donor and up to $15,000 total for projects that utilize public spaces for community good. Public spaces include parks, schools, community centers, sidewalks, community gardens, crosswalks, and more. You'll receive ongoing support from a dedicated ioby crowdfunding coach. While you fundraise, donations to your page will be instantly doubled (up to $1,000 per donor) so your fundraising work goes twice as far. Eligibility is limited to volunteer groups or nonprofits with an annual budget smaller than $250,000 and located in Benton or Washington counties.

Crowdfunding Support

When you crowdfund with the ioby Detroit Match Program, you'll get:
  • Our free resources and guidance for how to crowdfund.
  • A one-on-one ioby crowdfunding coach to teach you how to successfully raise donations.
  • While you crowdfund, donations will be doubled instantly. (Up to $400 per donation and $2,000 per project.)
  • We offer fiscal sponsorship to groups that are not a 501c3. 
  • Our fees are very low because we are a nonprofit.

Eligibility

To access the Northwest Arkansas Neighborhoods Match Program: 1. Primarily fund the implementation of a public-benefiting project. See the examples listed below. 2. Utilize or improve public space within Arkansas’ Benton & Washington Counties for the project or event. Public spaces include parks, schools, community centers, sidewalks, community gardens, crosswalks, and more.3. Be specific and concrete. All ioby campaign pages must include a budget outlining how funds will be spent. 4. Be led by an individual resident, a volunteer group of friends and neighbors, a school, places of worship, nonprofit organizations, or other civic organizations located within Benton or Washington counties.  
  • You do not need to be a nonprofit organization to access match funding. Projects may be led by an individual/informal community group with a local fiscal sponsor to steward funds on their behalf, or 
  • In the case that the project is led by a non-profit, eligibility for this program is limited to 501c3 organizations with an annual budget smaller than $250,000.  
5. Finish crowdfunding and cash-out by May 31, 2024 or sooner. Here's why.6. ioby policy requires that match participants achieve a minimum of five distinct donors in order to cash out with matching funds. Here's why

Project Examples

Projects that leverage or improve public spaces in Arkansas’ Benton and Washington counties are eligible to participate in this match program. These might include the types of projects listed below, or other creative ideas from residents and local organizations:Tactical urbanism projects that reimagine public space Active transportation; activating trails or bike lanes Hosting a free public event in a public space Teaching workshops in a park, school, or other public spaceMurals on a local school or neighborhood buildingTemporary or permanent public art installations in a local parkAfterschool programming for youth in public spacesPlanting in parks, community gardens, streetscapes, or other public spacesMusical street fairs and affordable/free public concertsA series of nature walks in a local metroparkSummer film screenings in a local plaza or community gardenBuilding or improving a playground, community garden, or pocket parkNew dance classes offered at the local community centerA new mosaic beautifying the entryway to a school or parkCommunity walking or running groups Outdoor performance for the publicOr any existing nonprofit programs that host a 2023 project or event in a public space!
  • Please note: Organizations with an annual budget larger than $250,000 are not eligible for this match program. 

Ineligible

  • Because all donations on ioby are tax-deductible, we cannot approve campaigns that benefit one specific individual, family, or business. 
  • Organizations with an annual budget larger than $250,000 are not eligible for this match program. 
  • Projects that lack a primary focus on utilizing public spaces for public benefit are ineligible, such as improving or hosting events in a private facility. 
  • Projects involving political campaigning or contributions to political campaigns are ineligible. 
  • Fundraising for a pool of funds to be re-granted to others or used for an unspecified purpose in the future is ineligible.
  • General operating support or funding new staff hires for nonprofits, including nonprofits focused exclusively on public space projects.
  • ioby may determine a project ineligible at any time.
