the project
It may only be spring, but DMF Youth is gearing up for our BEST SUMMER YET. And we have a big goal: add one more partner school in East Harlem to our roster! That means at least 50 more kids dancing, learning, and growing with DMF Youth this summer. Thanks to ioby, we are eligible for up to $3,000 in match funding from the Con Edison Power Up Neighborhood Match Program! Wahoo! With you, ioby, and Con Edison on our side, we know we can hit our $10,000 goal and create an unforgettable summer experience for many deserving students. But we need to act FAST - many nonprofits are tapping into this program, and match funding is only available while funds last!
the steps
This summer, we will partner with Title 1 schools and larger CBO’s in East Harlem to supplement the Department of Education’s Summer Rising Program with our dance and SEL-based curriculum. DMF Youth will also continue serving two shelter partners in the Bronx with unique summer experiences. Our goal is to ADD an additional school to our roster reaching at least 50 more students. To make this a reality, we need $10,000 fill in our budget gap.

why we're doing it
DMF Youth empowers underserved elementary and middle school students with holistic life-skill development programs that stoke students’ self-confidence, resilience, and grit. Our approach strategically blends two vital, underrepresented disciplines that are imperative to vibrant communities and productive citizens: healthy movement and arts and Social Emotional Learning (SEL). Driven by the vision of an equitable education system for all, we partner with Title 1 schools and homeless shelters across NYC to deliver free, accessible afterschool and summer programs that leverage dance and SEL to inspire well bodies, promote creative minds, and foster healthy relationships.
