the project

PHASE TWO: Raising funds to purchase equipment for students and compensate instructors. Since the conception of The Creative Healing Foundation (CHF) in 2021 we have volunteered our time and resources. Last year we learned that if we want to grow we need capital to purchase and pay for services and equipment. With your donations we will be able to service more people in our community that are dealing with mental health issues. Photography is a proven art therapy within the VA Medical systems, and we are looking forward to working closely with them in their "Seeing Lens: Therapeutic Photography Program." Once veterans have completed the class they return equipment that was loaned to them during class, and move forward alone and without a battle buddy to help support them. CHF is that battle buddy! We will continue to work with the veterans and civilians that would like to continue using cameras and gain the reward of capturing a great exposure. This budget will help cover this first quarter "City Scenes" excursions right here in our city and neighborhoods. Exposing the beauty that is all around us. From wild flowers growing, to sunrises and sunsets. Upon completing our fundraising goal we will be able to purchase four entry level Canon camera rigs and compensate three to four instructors for 160 hours each for training and leading our "City Scene" excursions this spring.

the steps

1.) Once funds are received we will begin the process of ordering needed equipment. Placing orders from either online vendors or through our local camera store Dodds

2.) Equipment will be insured and insurance documents will be updated

3.) Advertising will go out with classes and sign up instructions via social media and mass emails and text to those that are in our first data base

4.) With new equipment we will be able to offer two classes at once for beginners and advanced photographers

5.) The first to respond to class announcements will be sent welcome packages to digitally fill out and return with three references

6.) The first day of class will be an introduction to each other and the equipment. Equipment is not to be taken home or overnight until after the 8th class

7.) If a class is missed, equipment is then asked to be returned and only used in class to help keep track of use and actual equipment

8.) During the introduction to class, it will be explained that one camera (older operational first) will be raffled off for $20 a ticket. These funds are used to help grow the program and gear

9.) Every three classes there will be a group critique on photos submitted in the class

10.) At the end of the 12 week classes a gallery show will be open to those that submit their work to be displayed and open to the public

why we're doing it

Being a veteran myself and witnessing many times in my life where photography has helped me with dealing with my own mental health issues ( PTSD, Anxiety and Depression) even before I took the Seeing Lens: Therapeutic Photography Program. Now, that I'm in a better place in my life I would like to share this skill with others and teach them how the art of photography can help.
