Out of 88 counties in Ohio, Cuyahoga County ranks 68th in Health outcomes (according to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation). In the same report, we rank 81st out of 88th in Social & Economic factors. 27% of our children live in poverty, 45% of our children are in single-family households, and we are above average in unemployment once again. Recess Cleveland addresses these issues with our 60 Days of Summer Recreation and Restore Recess programming by hosting pop-up events featuring a combination of kickball, dodgeball, arts & crafts, bounce houses, and other fun activities to help exercise, relieving stress, meeting people in your neighborhood, and connecting with your community more fun. We partner with other organizations to connect event attendees with what they need (e.g. employment, snap benefits, food access, and other free or low-cost resources) in their neighborhood. We work with CDCs, nonprofits, and community partners to choose locations.
