The sidewalk is unusually wide - about 50 feet. It’s mostly concrete and pretty bleak. Foot traffic on W. 97th St. has increased dramatically since the opening of Whole Foods and the Columbus Square shopping area. We believe Stryker Park would be a terrific enhancement to the neighborhood, the students and staff of P.S. 163, the residents of the surrounding apartment buildings and shoppers heading to Columbus Square.
We believe in more green and less concrete.
For the summer of 2013, we are working with the Department of Transportation to build a temporary public amenity on the North West corner of 97th and Columbus. It will include bistro tables, chairs, planters and "City Benches."
