About Us
Staten Island OutLOUD is a community dialogue and performance project. We promote cross-cultural understanding by gathering neighbors to explore global classics aloud together, and share ideas. We're proud that Staten Island OutLOUD draws a diverse, intergenerational audience. During the past 10 years (OutLOUD was established in September 2001) we've served over 17,000 participants; we've hosted hundreds of free events - in 20 languages! All our events are free and open to the public.
We Participate Because
One of Staten Island OutLOUD's popular projects is our series of cross-cultural events in city parks. We especially enjoy welcoming neighbors to parks that are not well-known or are under-used. When people discover these beautiful public spaces, they gain new respect for their value as community resources, and as cultural destinations. During Autumn-Winter 2011-2012, we'll host special events in Tappen Park (on Staten Island's North Shore), in Freshkills Park (in the mid-Island Travis section of Staten Island), in Aesop Park (on Staten Island's South Shore), and in Leon Kaiser Park in Brooklyn's Coney Island neighborhood).
