About Us
Cleveland Public Theatre’s mission is to raise consciousness and nurture compassion through groundbreaking performances and life-changing educational programs. CPT develops new, adventurous work; and nurtures Northeastern Ohio artists — particularly those whose work is inventive, intelligent, and socially conscious. CPT’s acclaimed education programs engage underserved communities in devising new works that speak to contemporary issues, and empower participants to work for positive change in our community.
We Participate Because
We seek to create transformative experiences for our community by producing contemporary and compelling new work, featuring diverse voices and wide-ranging viewpoints. We take seriously our role as a “public theatre” and provide experiences that speak to many constituencies. The following priorities guide us: investing in communities that have been traditionally underserved; building long, intensive relationships with participants; and sharing the tools of theatre so that people may tell their own stories. We are concerned with not only program participants, but also their families and neighborhoods.
