About Us
LIC Roots is a volunteer organization of educators, environmentalists, environmental educators and open space afficionados. The LIC Roots community garden and FF Michael Brennan Memorial is open to the public every day M-F 9=5 weather permitting. According to the USDA National Forest Service, LIC Roots planted the first memorial tree to the memory of Firefighter Michael Brennan (Eng. 54, Ladder 4, Battalion 9, FDNY) and the other victims of the attacks of 9-11-2001 on April 11, 2002.
We Participate Because
People need a healthy environment. Our 3-fold mission is to green our community; to maintain the memorial to Firefighter Michael Brennan, and; to support efforts more and safe and clean parks for the people of our Western Queens community.
