I primarily identify as a visual artist who operates in an elite field that presents barriers to ordinary people. While this work is meaningful to me, it also doesn't feel like enough in these heated times. Passing Through Projects represents direct action towards positive change in social, racial and environmental justice movements . This sounds grandiose, which I don't mean for it to be, particularly since my method is meant to be uplifting, low-key and convivial. I'm basically trying a create a model for overcoming the hyper-polarization that currently defines America. My hope is that my local, place-based projects will bring people from all walks of life together for fun and thought-provoking discussion.
