Closing Our Doors
Friends,After 16 years, we are sad to share publicly that ioby has made the difficult decision to wind down our operations. As anyone familiar with this sector knows, the current landscape for non-profit organizations is fraught with uncertainties, obstacles, and financial challenges. ioby has not been immune to these challenges, and despite the best efforts of the ioby staff, board, and generous donors, we have been unable to create a sustainable financial future for ioby.As we share this difficult news about ioby’s future, the Board of Directors wants to express sincere gratitude to ioby’s staff this past year. They have worked tirelessly under increasingly difficult circumstances to keep ioby’s work moving forward. This translated to real change on the ground this past year, and translated to community leaders who have felt supported and resourced. Thanks to the staff in this closing year, ioby was able to launch 234 projects, move nearly 1.4 million dollars and fiscally sponsor 72 projects across the country. We are clear that this will be the legacy of ioby’s work, and we thank you. From the start, ioby’s vision looked beyond any one organization to support and sustain networks of neighborhood change makers. Our focus has always been to support other organizations and individuals in their journey towards self-determination. ioby has always been about the people: those who have worked here, and those who have worked alongside us. Together, we have imagined, built, and sustained over 3,800 projects across the country. We have moved over 21 million dollars for these projects, and we have trained nearly 40,000 leaders across the country. We thank you for being part of the ioby community, and look forward to crossing paths in new capacities and places as we continue the work to build a more just world. In solidarity, Apollo Gonzales, ioby Board Chair, on behalf of ioby’s Staff and Board of Directors
