About the project
Create You!
WE ARE THE GIRLS OF ZURI ACADEMY, LEARNING TO LOVE OUR ANATOMY!
Empowering youth through Arts engaging them to express themselves using Dance, Visual Art, Creative Writing, Music, Literacy, and Photography. Our young queens learn to create the lives they choose using Art and evolve from every experience they create! The community is constantly growing and with the help of our Future History Makers, we can bring a positive impact to the city! They will display their artwork throughout the city and on film to share their stories with other young queens as inspiration. We teach young ladies to build a sisterhood with one another and learn to Love All Humanity and Be Kind to Nature.Providing Our neighborhoods with their own super sheroes!
The Steps
NOT JUST 12 WEEKS.... ITS A LIFESTYLE!
Our 12 week program launches in June. The first week will be orientation and registration, the next 11 weeks classes will take place every saturday with curriculum based programs.Young Queens will learn many different techniques of painting and crafting, 7 different styles of dance, how to play instrument of choice, several forms of writing, literacy components, and basics on photography and filming. These techniques will be displayed by the students at the end of the 12 weeks, during the ceremonial Art show event, we will host at our location. Performances around the city at several events will be available as well.
Why we‘re doing it
ART IS NECESSARY!
- Less than 15% of programs in the inner city focus on Arts
- Studies show that Arts, Dance, & Music has helped develop life skills and our leaders of today!
- Many schools today are cutting back or even eliminating Art programs due to budget constraints. Students who don't have access to Art classes, miss out on a key creative outlet and face difficulties in their subjects and have more disciplinary issues. In a 2002 report by The Arts of Education partnership, it revealed students who receive more Arts education scored higher on standardized test, improved social skills, and were more motivated than those who had no access to Fine Arts. Arts education not only impact the student, but the teacher as well. They are more interested in their work and pursued personal development experiences amongst the students. The Arts is Necessary!
- It has been proven that Art restores the city and Renews lives and tore down areas
- 75.2% of renewal of Cuyahoga County stemmed from Art programs
- As creative creatures, It is necessary for young women to have an outlet to express themselves
