About the project
The student leadership podcast focuses on developing leadership skills and empowering students to use their voices to express their experiences in the Cleveland community. The podcast program provides grooming and etiquette training to support social-emotional development. Students are exposed to various elements and environments of Cleveland leadership, including career exploration, Cleveland history and sites of interest, new development, politics and voting engagement, fashion sports, and intellectual conversation. The program is designed to equip students with knowledge and skills through team leadership development.
In addition, the program offers healthy food options and a STEAM approach to understanding where food comes from by growing a garden. Students also have the opportunity to create podcasts, allowing them to share their experiences in their own voices. Through community podcasting, students engage in direct communication with business owners through interviews and work assignments, learning how to write summaries of their experiences.
To broaden their perspective and inspire their vision, students are given the opportunity to travel and visit other communities. This exposure helps them consider the development they would like to see in Cleveland, Ohio.
The program values community partnerships and collaborates with organizations such as Neighborhood Connections, Leo’s Casino, Africahouse International, Bike Cleveland, local fire departments, and local businesses to enhance the student’s leadership development journey.
Engaging Cleveland”s younger population and audience to get outdoors and get involved with more civic activity
The Steps
The list of actions we will take to make the project happen once we have cash in hand will be to purchase equipment to run the podcast. We will purchase 4 microphones, 2 laptops, 1 Apple computer, 1 mixer, supplies & prints, T-shirts & other merch, videography/editing/audio training, promotional material & marketing, sponsorship packages, workshop/other equipment & prizes. This is everything we need to get started which will position us to raise more money to obtain the other items once we start the podcast.
Why we‘re doing it
We are dedicated to cultivating leaders who can influence a more positive environment and mobilize communities for meaningful change. Our podcast will address critical issues such as mental health, nutrition, and leadership skills. This platform will provide our podcast hosts, who are students, the opportunity to share their experiences within the Cleveland communities. By discussing these social problems, we aim to provide perspective, inspire action, and promote positive activity within our communities and beyond.
.
Our mission is to enhance relationships, develop emotional intelligence, teach empathy and compassion, and build resilience. We strive to equip individuals with strong social-emotional skills, the ability to navigate challenges, manage stress, and improve decision-making abilities. Our focus also includes conflict resolution, self-awareness, self-regulation, communication skills, and problem-solving.
.
Recognizing a gap in leadership within our communities, we are committed to addressing this issue head-on. By empowering the youth, we can prevent or mitigate ongoing challenges and prepare them for future success. Our podcast will bring crucial perspectives from our children, emphasizing that their viewpoints matter.
.
We face numerous challenges within our communities, and it is imperative that we all play a part in the solutions for positive change. Our goal is to devise effective strategies and interventions by identifying root causes and fostering community partnerships and collaborations. By pooling our resources, we can empower our children to make the world a better place.
