About the project

Downtown Cleveland Residents' vision is to help promote communication and understanding between downtown stakeholders and eliminate prejudice and discrimination within our boundaries. The association gives a unified voice to the people who live, learn, work, and play in the urban center and wish a say in policies guiding future downtown growth and development.

The Steps

The project is currently running, but in order to continue for at least one year, we will need funding for food, printing of flyers, supplies and the small fee for the meeting space.  If we were to receive funding for one year, it would provide us the opportunity to strengthen our meetings to an even more reputable status, one that would ultimately result in local businesses sponsoring our meetings and donating food.

Monthly food cost:  $280.00

Monthly printing of flyers:  $90.00

Monthly supplies:  $10.00

Monthly venue fee:  $20.00

TOTAL:  $400.00 per month

Why we‘re doing it

Downtown Cleveland Residents is a grassroots group of volunteers who strive to build a community through citizen-lead neighborhood improvement. Over the past year and a half, we have provided Downtown residents a platform in which each resident's voice can be heard. This platform connects residents not only with their neighbors, but also with public officials and others that have an impact on the continuing resurgence of Downtown Cleveland.

At our monthly community forums, we have new and continuing discussions about improving the Downtown Cleveland neighborhood while we strengthen symbiotic relationships with the Third District Cleveland Police Department, the City of Cleveland, developers and many of the city's stakeholders. For our residents, we are providing that essential sense of community, importance and belonging while they gather together over a free meal.

By continuing to unite neighbors with shared values and a compassion for the welfare of others within their community, we will make an impact. Our efforts to improve Downtown Cleveland will not only benefit the residents that live here, but it will also enrich the experience of everyone else who spends time in our beloved neighborhood.
