When a poet loves, their story dies on dried ink. They try to revise it, but is love worth revising? This project titled "When a Poet Loves" is my short film about Black Love in Cleveland that will be screened at The Black Joy in Hough Arts Festival on September 10, 2022. I will hire fellow BIPOC artists and community residents from the Hough and Glenville communities to be a part of the film’s cast and crew. Members of the Hough Youth Advisory Board will also play a key role in the production and screening of the film. A panel discussion/talkback will take place after the screening of the film to even further engage community members on the subject matter of how to amplify Black love and Black joy in our communities.
Actions to be taken to create this project will consist of hiring a production team who will comprise the film's cast and crew. In addition, devising a marketing and promotions team will be needed to design a campaign that centers on the theme of Black Love to further engage members of the community.
The purpose of this film is to not only celebrate black love and joy, but to provoke conversations around the power of love and its ability to better humanity.
