About the project
In order to enhance the security of the garden's 75 foot, dimly-lit front, we propose to install energy efficient ighting.
To address the constant erosion of the much-loved and much-used garden lawn, we plan to install a permanent underground drainage system..
The Steps
We will consult with a licensed electrician and a nearby condominium building(the Arum) that recently enhanced its security lighting on our block. This will provide guidance on the best options for the site. Volunteers will assist with the installation.
Volunteers will dig trenches in the lawn and an area for a catchment basin to install a French drain system. We will be guided in ths DIY project by youtube videos and neighborhood volutneers with relevant knowledge and expertise.
Why we‘re doing it
All our efforts go toward making the West 132nd Street Community Garden safer, more appealing and more durable, given its increasing attractiveness and use by residents and visitors.
