the project
There are numerous youth in the community utilizing the Library as a place to hang out after school until a parent or caregiver is at home. I want to provide a safe haven for youth to come after school. The Library is not a place for unsupervised youth. This is a place for planned programming, research, and quiet workspace.
The youth will have space specifically designed for them to receive supervision in a controlled and safe environment until their caregivers are available.
Our team wants to enhance the lives of the youth in our community by creating a safe space for them to get assistance with homework, a hot meal, and gain some new skills that will assist them with their growth and development.
the steps
We are currently operating this program, but need assistance to continue. We have operated wholehearted care aftercare through our personal funds and we are now at an impasse and unable to continue our services without assistance from our community at large.
We currently provide transportation if needed to the event center.
We will provide a safe and supervised environment for youth until their caregivers are available.
We will provide homework assistance, hot meals, and structured activities that will teach them skills that will help them in the community and build self-confidence and self-esteem.
why we're doing it
We are doing this because we believe in building community and sustainability. The youths are our future and its so important that we invest in them at an early age. When they know that others care it helps them to thrive and it fosters self-esteem, builds character, and stimulates growth positively on numerous levels.
