About the project

In celebrating the life of Matthew "Matty" Goodwin, the Matthew Goodwin Celebration of Life Art Scholarship was established on October 28, 2020, in his honor.

My name is Kim Goodwin. I am Matty's younger sister and the creator and founder of the scholarship.

Matty was a phenomenal artist and excelled in his art classes at Elk Grove High School in Elk Grove, California. I am beyond thrilled to join my desire to give back in Matty's memory at Elk Grove High School- our Alma Mater. We have expanded our reach to a second school within the Elk Grove Unified School District, Valley High School. Matty was a giver by nature and helped anyone in any way he could. He passed away by suicide in 2007 at the age of 20. I know he would love to know his name lives on to help youth excel and share their artistic capabilities with the world.

We appreciate everyone involved in this beautiful journey to send our youth off to college. None of this could have happened without the community support and monetary donations. A portion of the fundraising goes to operational costs to continue to give back to more students.
