About the project

In 2014, Gowanus Canal Conservancy (GCC) activated over 1,300 volunteers with our signature Clean & Green program. We worked throughout the Gowanus Canal Watershed, nurturing our urban forest by planting and maintaining gardens as well as installing an innovative Wildflower Corridor. We are excited to welcome Spring along with our sixth season of working with the community towards an open, clean and alive Gowanus Canal and Watershed.

The Steps

Get the funds.
Buy a truck.
Load it up.
Make an impact.

Why we‘re doing it

The GCC envisions the evolution of an open, clean and alive Gowanus Canal and Watershed with accessible and connective space, clean water, soil and air as well as vibrant business and cultural activity. A working vehicle ensures that we have the means to support our efforts throughout the community. Join us!

Our volunteers are the center of our environmental stewardship, however a working vehicle is integral to maximizing our impact throughout the Watershed. Before our previous vehicle went out of service, we used it to transport volunteers, tools, plants and compost to numerous Gowanus gardens and tree pits. The money raised by this campaign will allow us to continue our important stewardship work throughout the community.
