About the project
We are excited to announce that in a few short months, we will open the doors to our own storefront location - The Treehouse!
Inside our new space, we will be using our training and expertise as pediatric occupational and physical therapists to provide developmental play groups at low or no cost to kids in an economically depressed community outside of Cleveland, Ohio. We are also excited to use the space to offer community outreach and education programs to families, caregivers, parents, teachers, and therapists that will promote healthy development for all kids in the city and surrounding communities.
The Steps
The Inspired Treehouse, LLC (our blog and online business) will be footing the big bills for The Treehouse, including rent, utilities, and insurance. And while we have these major expenses covered, what we really need is an interior design that will complete our vision of a bright, welcoming, and happy place for kids, families, teachers, and others to visit.
Donations to this campaign will ensure that we're able to have our space set up, organized, and outfitted with the supplies and materials we need to begin serving families and children during the 2017-2018 school year.
Why we‘re doing it
As pediatric therapists who have worked in this community for more than 10 years, we’ve seen firsthand that kids are struggling with the skills they need to be successful in school and other endeavors including:
-attention
-self-regulation (behavior)
-gross motor skills (coordination, balance)
-visual motor skills (handwriting, drawing)
-fine motor skills (grasping, manipulating)
-social skills
Sometimes these issues can be attributed to medical problems or other special needs. But very often, developmental problems like these boil down to one thing: lack of exposure to play, movement, sensory input, and other important developmental experiences.
The good news is that play, movement, sensory processing, and child development happen to be our specialty!
