Bailey Park Beautification Day is a community-driven project aimed at revitalizing and enhancing the aesthetic appeal of our beloved neighborhood park. Our vision is to transform Bailey Park into a vibrant and welcoming space fostering pride and unity among residents and visitors alike. By bringing together volunteers, local businesses, and community organizations, we will embark on a collective journey to create a greener, cleaner, and more enjoyable environment for everyone to cherish.

During Bailey Park Beautification Day, we will undertake various activities to breathe new life into our park. Volunteers will plant trees, flowers, and shrubs, adding bursts of color and natural beauty to the landscape. Additionally, we will focus on revitalizing the park's infrastructure, such as installing benches, and improving the play areas to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for park-goers of all ages.

  3. Procure Necessary Supplies and Materials: The funds will be utilized to purchase the required supplies and materials.
  4. Coordinate with Local Authorities: The project team will liaise with local authorities, such as city officials and relevant departments, to obtain necessary permissions and permits and ensure compliance with regulations. 
  5. Engage Local Businesses and Organizations: The team will contact local businesses and organizations to secure additional support, such as sponsorships, in-kind donations, or services. 
  6. Execute Beautification Activities: On the designated Bailey Park Beautification Day,
  7. Promote Community Engagement and Celebration: Throughout the project, the team will engage the community through social media, local events, and public outreach to encourage participation and generate excitement. 
  8. Ensure Long-Term Sustainability: The team will develop a maintenance and sustainability plan to ensure the long-term beauty and upkeep of Bailey Park. 

By implementing these actions, the team will work diligently to make Bailey Park Beautification Day a successful and impactful endeavor, transforming the park into a vibrant, inviting space for the community to enjoy for years.

why we're doing it

The Bailey Park Beautification Day project, tackles Detroit's social, economic, environmental, and park equity challenges, aiming to create positive change in these areas. McDougall-Hunt is a neighborhood with limited access to quality neighborhood green space and parks. The project tackles park equity by providing beautiful, well-maintained, inclusive, and accessible areas for recreation, relaxation, and community building that makes a place for all residents to enjoy 

Moreover, the project has economic implications for the neighborhood. Well-maintained parks have enhanced property values and attracted businesses and investments to surrounding areas. By improving the aesthetics and amenities of Bailey Park, the project team aims to contribute to the neighborhood's economic revitalization, creating opportunities for local businesses, generating employment, and fostering a vibrant local economy.

Additionally, the Bailey Park Beautification Day project aligns with environmental goals by promoting sustainable practices and enhancing the ecological value of the park.
