the project

The proposal is to upgrade select bus stops in Atlanta by adding printed timetables. This will be done by me with help from people I will recruit. The objective is to make bus destinations more visible and thus more attractive to the public.

Stop locations I'm currently targeting include:

3. 10+Holly
4. 10+Hemphill
5. 10+Piedmont
6. 14+Peachtree
7. 9+Peachtree
8. N Decatur+EmoryVillage
9. Ponce+NHighland
10. Around Ponce+City Market

14. 14+Piedmont on 14

16. Marietta St near CNN Center

the steps

  1. Identify 20-30 bus stops with a lot of foot traffic (2 days)
  2. Make and print timesheets (1 week)
  3. Identify and buy mounting supplies (1 day)
  4. Mount the timetables at the stops (3 days).

why we're doing it

Most bus stops in Atlanta don't provide the most basic information for potential users: bus routes and destinations. Some bus stops may provide a route timetable for main locations on the route, but it is still up to the user to guess the arrival time of the bus. This entire setup makes buses unattractive. This initiative addresses all of these issues, making it easier for potential users to discover MARTA. Donors may be recognized on the timesheets as well.
