the project
There Is Really NOOOO Insurance! Whether it's in a relationship or your physical health. It starts off promising, then, something may derail it, causing things to take a negative turn and one is faced with life-threatening challenges. Or, you've done all the right things in career planning, examining growing industries, attained the degree, have great referrals and experience necessary to be successful. Then, comes a pandemic, which eliminates your position, forces your children to do distance learning, or, unfortunately, takes a loved one away. Now you must recreate yourself into a COVID-Responsive employee, parent, and or caregiver. There are truly no insurances in life.
However, there are steps families can take to help alleviate the stresses of not being covered. We want to educate families who traditionally do not have enough coverage (insurance) to do much more than cover end-of-life expenses. Covid-19 has exposed many gaps in black family wealth-building experiences. We hope to open dialogue about taking better care of our families and ourselves as we round the corner on a global pandemic.
the steps
We are in the process of putting together Covid safe sessions. We will need the funds to ensure that happens
why we're doing it
The coronavirus (COVID-19) has resulted in an unprecedented crisis that affects not only our physical health and daily lives, but also our mental health. To address these needs, Amber's Lighthouse is committed to providing credible information and resources to help people navigate through this crisis.
Studies have shown that Black insurance policyholders tend to look at life insurance policies differently than their white counterparts. https://www.forbes.com/advisor/life-insurance/black-ownership/ Covid-19 has exposed stress points in financial planning that we want to help others see and navigate. Our goal is to help our neighbors have real conversations about life's unexpected occurrences and how to leave loved ones in a better place.
