Teaching with Technology

  I teach Kindergarten in a Title 1 school just south of Atlanta, Georgia. I love teaching but often find it a challenge to find the resources I need to give my students a quality learning experience. My classroom currently has two computers for approximately 25 students. All of my students are on free breakfast and lunch and many have home situations that are challenging and difficult. Their exposure to technology outside of school varies with some having little or none at all. Of course, the goal of kindergarten is to bring all of the young students up to a standard that will allow them to be ready for a good educational experience going forward. 

  For this project, I am requesting digital tablets with protective covers to include in our daily small group activity. This will allow each student to have their own tablet during the lessons. A personal tablet will help to provide the experience of exploring different levels of reading, math, and science, as well as give them greater exposure to the digital world we all live in today.  We all know that hands on experience is invaluable, especially at the early learning stages, and these tablets can make a real positive difference to my young students.
