About the project
Me and my team are setting out to produce a short film project to be used as an advocacy tool for The Greater Cleveland Food Bank. The film will explore long term measures to decrease hunger, specifically in Northeast Ohio. To do this, we will view the scope and depth of the issue, looking at its context in society – what in our society affects hunger, and what in our society is affected by hunger.
The Steps
1. Purchase required equipment/software
2. Condense research
3. Storyboard project
4. Begin filming
5. Complete animations
6. Edit footage/animations
7. Finalize film
Why we‘re doing it
Hunger is a serious issue anywhere it exists, regardless of its size. It is especially prevalent in Ohio, and even more so in Northeast Ohio – both areas are among the worst ranking regions in the country in their proportions of individuals who lack year-round access to adequate food (according to an annual study conducted by Feeding America). Everyone knows hunger exists, and many of us have a problem with that, but what can we do? The obstacles can seem insurmountable, leaving many unsure of how to address it. Those who wish to see the pandemic nature of hunger decreased in the future must have an understanding of what the problem truly is, the various ways it is caused, how it is affected by society, how it affects society, and once the issue is put in its context, then and only then will possible solutions be conceivable. Our goal is that this project can serve as a jump-off point for anyone who truly wants to take part in confronting this issue.
