The COVID-19 outbreak has disrupted many aspects of life for billions of people around the globe. Few people have been more affected by this outbreak than those at nursing homes and assisted living places. Because the virus is exteremely dangerous to the elderly, many of these places have been forced to close their doors to visitors. This has left many seniors isolated from their friends and family.
I am working to provide tablets to seniors that would allow them to video call their loved ones at any time they wish. This way, seniors can stay connected with their friends and family during this challenging time.
So far, I have provided devices to ten seniors at two seperate nursing homes, but I hope to provide tablets to many more seniors. Your donation will be used to buy tablets that will keep seniors connected despite the effects of the pandemic.
Even before the pandemic, senior isolation was a big problem. According to the US Census Bureau, 28% of seniors live alone. This problem has only been made more extreme by the recent social distancing measures put into place to slow the spread of the virus.
As people age, time spent with family becomes all the more valuable. I want to do whatever I can to provide relief to seniors who will become isolated from those they love for months on end because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
