the project

Recycled Justice needs your support in implementing our community sustainability plan. We work with students to develop a system of solidarity and justice. In 9 months, we have collected over 7,000 bottles from our community. Each school will be using the funds to serve the homeless with their very own unique outreach endeavor. We have collected from private residences, living communities, businesses, schools, and more!

Our plan features three operations ran by students at various Greater New Haven high schools. All endeavors address critical aspects of our environment and allow students to lead in the direction of social and environmental justice. Through student capstone projects, volunteerism, and club endeavors, students will develop three operations that recycle justice.

All of our operations work as one to deliver to our community a unique system of sustainability, solidarity, and justice. We thank you in advance for your generous donations and support.

the steps

  1. Create Club/Gather Volunteers
  2. Purchase Equipment
  3. Establish Operations
  4. Maintain sustainability

Description of Operations

General Operation: General Operations entails the collection of plastic bottles, glass bottles, and cans from our partnered schools. All bottles obtained will be recycled to generate proceeds and purchase resources for the homeless. Each school has a unique outreach endeavor aimed to support those in need.

Operation Sustainible (Sustain-e-blay): Operation Sustainible supports various sustainable projects. One, in particular, entails incorporating compost within our (school) pick-up streams, processing it, and using it for future initiatives/projects.

Operation Clean Grounds: Operation Clean Grounds aims to organize students and volunteers for the successful cleanup and maintenance of the property around the school. We create a custom cleanup campaign, coordinate volunteers, and create incentives to ensure our ground is clear of excess trash

why we're doing it

Our project was inspired by those who tirelessly collect bottles to support themselves. We figured, what if the entire community collected bottles to provide the homeless with resources. Our project soon turned into a full-blown environmental and social justice effort.

Our mission is to create a system of sustainability while empowering students/ members of our community to be change agents, revive the spirit of volunteerism, and uplift the homeless. We aim to recycle justice, both socially and environmentally, in the direction of prosperity. Students will soon begin their outreach endeavors and will be actively serving the homeless. We want to encourage the youth to work together and unify around the things that matter most. It is our pleasure to engage our students so they can create a more sustainable community environmentally and socially.

We envision the youth in our community being a part of the change for which they want to see. We want to create an atmosphere for student leaders willing to go the extra mile toward a more prosperous and sustainable community. We highlight the connection between social and environmental justice in that our student's efforts will have a direct effect on the "homeless." Additionally, we emphasize the need to focus on our inner climate while we also address that which is outside of ourselves.
