About the project
We are a group of volunteers, operating not-for-profit, to support our friends, family, and partners on the frontline.
Healthcare workers are working extremely long hours in high-pressure environments and have difficulty accessing safe, healthy meals, compromising their immunity. Our locally owned restaurants are struggling to survive. They’re losing business and having to make tough decisions. These are the people who feed and care for us.
Supply Drop needs your help in supporting them. What we’re doing is simple: We’re raising money to pay restaurants for meals and then delivering to healthcare workers who need it most. Our goal is to deliver safe, healthy meals to our healthcare workers and provide support to the local restaurants that are essential to our community.
All money donated goes to restaurants to feed people working in hospitals.
The Steps
Here's how it works:
1) You donate money to support the list of partner restaurants (Honey's in Bushwick and the Rucola/rhodora/June group)
2) We reach our donation goal and purchase a large regular order of meals ($750 = 50 meals + hydrating drink)
3) Meals are delivered to Brooklyn's largest hospital, Maimonides Medical Center, to feed healthcare workers (more hospitals and locations soon)
Why we‘re doing it
We are starting with feeding healthcare workers on the frontlines with healthy meals; we have partners and family working at Maimonides Medical Center. All meals are zero waste, zero emissions, and helping restaurant employees get back to work. As our program expands we are looking to deliver meals to the local community of Ocean-Hill/Brownsville with the Phoenix Community Garden.
