About the project
The I AM GYM FOUNDATION INC will train youth from Brownsville and other volunteers to lead healthy lifestyle pop-ups in Brownsville.
This project will help cover the administrative costs to provide this training and provide stipends for the youth.
This will be an ongoing project with phases throughout the summer and fall, as we prepare for the anticipated 2nd wave of COVID-19 in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
The Steps
1. We will cover the administrative cost of having a training location that provides space for social distancing.
2. We will train the youth who want to work to promote health and wellness in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
3. We will facilitate wellness pop-up events in Brownsville, Brooklyn.
Why we‘re doing it
We are doing this project because the residents of Brownsville have a higher rate of pre-existing health challenges that make them at-risk for experiencing complications due to COVID-19.
We aim to educate our community, especially our youth to make healthy habits a part of their lifestyle to decrease the rates of these health challenges and make our community healthier overall.
