Why we‘re doing it
Streator Illinois is a rural community located in the north central part of the state. As is the case of many rural communities, much of Streator's historic past and vibrant business districts have faded due to economic decline. Our Streator Walldogs mural project will serve as a springboard for regrowth in community pride, identity and spirit. This will be accomplished by highlighting significant events and figures of our town's past through installation of vibrant public murals throughout our downtown.
Once complete, these murals will serve as a lasting point of interest for visitors and locals alike. Future plans include a walking mural tour, historic learning opportunities, and continued celebration of Streator's past.
