About the project

This is Phase Two of our Project. We pitched the project as "Starving Artists 2 Working Artists" at Accelerate: a civic pitch competition by the Cleveland Leadership Center

"BlockcityP2C "  is going to be a Platform where Artists can gain Fans and interact with them and sell their art so they can become working artists.

Blockcityp2c will be a social network where people can engage with artists and also receive digital gift boxes. There will be a subscription fee that will go toward maintaining the site and using real persons and AI (artificial intelligence) to guarantee all members are real people. Blockcityp2c will also establish a fund to help artists create more work and turn them from "Starving Artists 2 Working Artists"

The Steps

This is Phase two of our project. We will be using funds to refine the website and gain content and subscribers. Phase one raised about $3,000 and we connected with a web designer.

Why we‘re doing it

To help Artists earn a living from their movies

When I first won an Emmy for a TV movie I wrote, my Mom told me, "I had Fame but no Fortune." That stuck with me as I struggled over the years to make movies and found Fame online but little fortune to make movies. I discovered I was not alone. Other artists have managed to grab huge followings but when it comes to revenue, they are stuck working a day job to support their art. I had created a movie company Prelude2Cinema to produce my work and others, but we still suffered from being Artists who had "Fame but no Fortune." We had become "Starving Artists."

Many filmmakers in the Cleveland area, such as myself, struggle to find support for our project. Many of us have put down roots and have homes and families here, and we feel we can contribute to the economy of the city. The pandemic changed the world and is continuing to do so. Many people turned to art and movies and online events for comfort and entertainment. We feel that artists are essential for the mental health of the world in these uncertain times. We do need support to continue our art.
