About the project
A Kreeaytive Space, Inc. (AKS for short) is more than just a nonprofit, it is a movement. Occupying anywhere from 10,000-20,000 SF, this small project is the start to a big plan. At thew conclusion of this project, we plan to accomplish the task of being registered as 501(c)(3) tax exempt status with the IRS which costs $700 to do. By accomplishing this task, we will be able to apply for grants that will fund larger projects such as purchasing our home and operating equipment. With the remaining $300 that we hope to raise, we will be able to acquire professional marketing materials. Professional marketing materials are of high importance when applying for grants and loans as it presents to donors and lenders that this is an organization ready to operate at its highest potential.
The Steps
At the conclusion of this project, we will immediately begin submitting all necessary documentation to the IRS to acquire 501(c)(3) status. The IRS has introduced a simplified, streamlined application process and because we are currently a smaller nonprofit organization, we qualify for this service. It is our expectation to obtain 501(c)(3) status by March 23, 2020. As for marketing materials, we wll be able to begin that process immediately as well and should have a completed logo and brochures by the second week of March.
Why we‘re doing it
I found myself as a victim of my community's lack of nurturing artistic talent. I grew up as an emotionally troubled kid and realized many sectors of art allowed me to recognize and release those emotions. However, it was usually difficult to find a space where I felt safe enough to explore those artistic talents as well as acquire the tools necessary to create. As I continued to go throw life without nurturing my artistic talents, I realized many of my peers faced the same challenges when I reached College as there was a constant fight for space to create on campus. As I continued my studies in Sociology, I realized that with the culture shift happening between Suburban and Urban communities, artistic resources will be needed now more than ever due to the emotional connection that artists and creatives develop when exposed to new environments and cultures.
