About the project

The Southeast Cleveland Resource Center opened in October 2022. We currently are funded and staffed by members of the community. We were given the opportunity to open a center in a property on Fleet Ave. A group of us came together cleaned the inside up and painted the interior. We were able to receive donations of office furniture. We have made it very warm  and welcoming

We now receive a steady flow of residents from all over the southeast side of Cleveland and surrounding suburbs. We help with HEAP. PIP, rental assistance, clothing, soc. sec., food and other housing issues. We have an onsite mommy and me program. They give diapers, clothes, cribs, and pack-n-plays to mothers. We do drug outreach and harm reduction, by passing out Narcan, fentanyl test strips and condoms. There is also an HIV Prevention Coordinator on site. We have a CPR and Serve Safe instructor on staff full time. Bags of food are handed out to the kids every Friday to take home for the weekend. The kids also receive help with homework and we help with prepping for the GED test.

We are Resource Brokers. We want to continue to help our community and the surrounding communities. To do this we need to ask for help and the generosity of others.

The Steps

We want to continue to serve our neighbors and beyond. If we cannot help with what the person needs are, we will do our best to direct them to the place or person that can help them. We will continue to do this as long as the need is here and as long as we have funds to support this center.

Why we‘re doing it

We are residents of this community that decided to take problems into are own hands. This area was hardest hit by the housing crisis and has not recovered as of yet. The need of resources are so overwhelming in this community that something had to be done. There was just no where for people to go where they felt safe, comfortable, welcomed and understood. We have removed barriers and have created a social safe space.
