During the past few seasons the South Pasadena Water Polo program has experienced renewed success. Last year, both the boys and girls team reached post-season play, with the girls advancing to the divisional quarter finals. The commitment and dedication of the student-athletes and coaching staff has paid tremendous dividends.
Once the funds are raised SPHS Water Polo will be able to buy uniforms and equipment. The coaches and the students are very much into giving back into the community. For example last year the girls dedicated one of their games and promoted cancer awareness. They were able to raise $500 to donate to cancer. The team has also held clinics to introduce younger kids to water polo and bring in continual funds for growth of the program.
As the only high school in South Pasadena, we directly supply the ability to play the toughest game in the world to all students in the community. This rapidly growing sport not only teaches physical ability, our program also focuses on individual characteristic development which many teams do not do. We want to be able to provide to all students who wish to grow both in the game and in their lives.
As an athletic program at a public high school, we often find ourselves in need of raising funds. The money raised by the team is used for a variety of team needs including:
· Tournament fees (ranging from $300-$500 per event)
· Team uniforms
· Equipment such as weight belts
· Additional position specific assistant coaches
