About the project

A Small Green Patch: Raising money to help maintain A Small Green Patch, maintaining the garden and booking musical guests throughout the summer.

The Steps

Located at the intersection of Downtown Brooklyn, Gowanus, Boerum Hill, Prospect Heights and Park Slope lots number 344, 346 and 348 Bergen Street.

A Small Green Patch has organized the community around greening these lots. The lots are contiguous but have been divided with a fence into three distinct plots. The first will be a community space organized by and for the community with all the tools and support required for gardening, arts activities, and spending time outside. The second lot will be host to Feedback Farms, a mobile urban farming lab. The last lot will host the Textile Arts Center's Natural Dye CSA and an herb garden for St. Lydia's church.

We have been given a Green Thumb community garden license and have obtained the right to use the lots from New York Housing and Preservation and Development (HPD) and the generosity of a private landowner.

We are raising funds to continue to maintain the lots and to provide musical acts throughout the season.

Why we‘re doing it

We have already helped the local community by cleaning up the lot and setting up a garden with along side other groups. Neighbors and members visit the Garden often, using the space for education, growing food, plants and events.
