About the project
Skills Pays The Bills, is a direct lens placed on how aging African American adults are vanishing in the workforce, being displaced during COVID-19. And how increasing your skills, can make you more marketable and in-demand. The Governor's Stay-At-Home Order put light on the lack of some administrator/clerical skills older African American workers lacked, and made it increasingly difficult to work from home effectively. Having some, wanting to seek new employment. While others sought tutorials and other skill developing options/software to close their gap.

Why we‘re doing it
We're doing this at this time, examining how racism and the COVID-19 can and will reduce the opportunities for some older African American adults to stay employed. Here are a few things that holds them back:
- Chronically Ill due to adverse health effects
- Disproportionately poor and frail
- Mistrust of outsiders
- Digital Gap/Low Computer Skills
- Lack of Confidence
- Poor/Insufficient Training
- Pride
We can and will, workwith individuals as a group, while providing customized one-on-one support to those who needs it.
