About the project

Sewing for Jesus teaches intergenerational classes in sewing, knitting, crocheting, quiltmaking, and crafts.  Participants come from multiple neighborhoods to learn skills.  In service to a local nursing home, volunteers make lap robes, prayer shawls, and personal bags for walkers or wheelchairs.  Teachers are volunteers.

We are raising funds to fix and replace sewing machines and to purchase fabric, needles, thread, sewing notions, and other crafts materials so that the number of participants can expand.

Right now we have the opportunity to unlock a dollar for dollar matching grant from The Sprout Fund, so EVERY DOLLAR DONATED IS DOUBLED until we reach our goal!

The Steps

-Fix or replace sewing machines.

-Purchase materials.

Why we‘re doing it

We bring together community members to learn valuable skills and meet new neighbors while making pieces in service to our elders.
