the project
The Sevynteenth Foundation “Productive Young Citizens” Summer Camp is an extension of its inaugural Mind, Body & Soul Summer Camp! The organization has been blessed with a vision and a team to carry out this program!
The Summer Camp will run for 9 weeks, beginning the first week of June and ending the last week of July. The Sevynteenth Foundation has found that there are many learning gaps that have been created for our youth during the COVID-19 pandemic. From the organizations learning pod experience, they have been able to pinpoint areas of improvement for our youth. Each week of the camp will focus on a different subject area! The camp will feature field trips, guest presenters and lots of enriching projects!
Our camp adheres to CDC Summer Camp Guidelines! We will have a small, impactful camp opportunity. Our campers will stay in cohorts and be asked to wear masks while indoors. We will have activities outdoors whenever possible! Each camper will have their own supply box, to not have to mix and mingle supplies. We will also have a daily cleaning schedule.
Our weeks themes this year will include Science & Technology Week, Mental Health Week, Art Week, In the Atmosphere Week, Music Week, Social Justice/Culture Week, Healthy Bodies, & Life Skills! We plan to partner with a variety of Cleveland organizations to make this camp a success! Some of our favorite and most amazing partners are the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, Hands on Health, CLE Consulting Firm, Abundant Love Community Outreach, Youth Financial Literacy, Queen I Am, Finding Blank, the Missing Link, the Collinwood Library, and more!
We have a really exciting summer planned for our campers, but some of our families are unable to afford the entire camp fee. We would love to be able to offer scholarships to our campers, with the help of this platform as well as other fundraisers.
the steps
Week 1. Create a system for families to apply for financial assistance.
Week 2: Create payment plans for the remaining balance.
Week 3: Secure transportation and driver. Secure presenters and field trips. Find local lunch and snack options.
Begin Camp!
why we're doing it
Students in our community need fun, enriching opportunities for the summer. Post-COVID, our campers are in need of relationship building, projects, and hands-on learning activities. They are in need of being able to make the connection to learning and being valuable citizens fun! After completing a year of remote learning and academic learning pods, we know exactly what our youth needs! Parents are ready to get back into the workforce and are in need of safe places for their students to learn and spend their summer! We are ready to help build our families up and create meaningful relationships to help better our community.
