About the project
SPNA relies on your generous donations to keep our park and neighborhood clean, safe, and beautiful.
Stuyvesant Square Park is fortunate to have two heritage English elms that are well over 100 years old. The trees are in need of critical professional help to ensure they remain healthy for all to enjoy.
Right now Partnership for Parks is offering to match your generous donation so your efforts will go twice as far!
Thank you for supporting SPNA!
The Steps
There is a substantial amount of work to be done on these trees. They are in great need of pruning to ensure their continued health. Cabling will be done at certain points in the trees to protect and strengthen them against the hazards of increasingly strong storms.
Why we‘re doing it
Stuyvesant Square Park is truly the heart of our neighborhood and is enjoyed by visitors from down the block and across the boroughs. Part of what makes the park so special is its stately, mature trees. As any good gardener knows, the beauty of nature needs to be tended to, and now is the time to give much-needed attention to our heritage English elms.
If you'd like to visit the elms, one is located in the West Park at the corner of Rutherford Place and 15th Street, and the other is located in the East Park at the corner of 15th Street and 2nd Avenue.
