About the project
Each year, Sadhana Service Project brings yoga and mindfulness to traumatized populations in jails, prisons and recovery centers. What keeps us repeatedly going into these dark places? It is the transformations we witness and the relationships we create. We have co-created a specific relationship, over time, for each group that we connect with.
We would love to be in relationship with you; your donation will allow us to continue our work in the many facilities we serve in the Hudson Valley. These include the Columbia County Jail, Columbia County Pathways to Recovery and with Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood for children with an incarcerated parent. Your support is how we stay afloat - it's a big ask, we know and we are honored by your care.
The Steps
1. Continue our work in local jails, prisons, recovery centers and for children with an incarcerated parent.
2. Begin our yoga teacher training with four women at a local mandated recovery center - January 15th, 2023
3. Hold a teacher training for yoga teachers to learn how to bring trauma-informed yoga and mindfulness to those impacted by justice and addiction.
Why we‘re doing it
IT’S SO SIMPLE TO CARE, AND IT IS PROFOUND
We do this because we care and learn so much from the folx we teach in these challenging times. We also have a relationship with each of you – we write this to you because we know you care. We want to sustain our connection to you and let you know that what you donate, whatever that can be, touches so many people. It’s a win/win situation: then we are all able to explore new avenues for self-connection, healing, and transformation. Your support is what makes it possible.
The Sadhana Service Project consists of a small team of teachers, sharing information, and continuing to train in best practices.
