the project

Following the huge success of the first Roundhouse Revival on May 23, 2015, the Coliseum Coalition is hosting Round 2 on Sunday, Oct. 4, to continue building public support for the reopening of the Mid-South Coliseum.

This family friendly event will have something for everyone to enjoy as we experience and celebrate the coliseum and connect with our neighbors and city office seekers on the eve of an election that will define its future.

the steps

We will invite Memphians and Mid-Southerners to this free and open event on October 4, 2015, from 1-7 p.m. They will help celebrate this great building and its fantastic future with entertainment and attractions that are both homages to its past and visions of its future.

why we're doing it

The Mid-South Coliseum, a gorgeous and robust mid-century modern arena in the center of Memphis, has sat empty for nearly 10 years. Despite a storied past that includes Elvis, James Brown, Jerry Lawler, Andy Kaufman, Larry Finch, Ronnie Robinson and the Beatles, despite a beautiful profile, and despite a boundless future, it has until recently been at great risk of being demolished. The first Roundhouse Revival, bootstrapped with an IOBY campaign, began turning the tide of public and political opinion, to the point that the vast majority of citizens and office seekers for the 2015 election support reopening the building.

Roundhouse Revival 2 will continue this push towards reopening the Coliseum with another great community party of music, basketball and wrestling. Like Round 1, it will spark the imagination of the citizens of Memphis to the future possibilities of this beautiful historic building. And it will provide them with an opportunity to discuss their ideas with local leaders and decision makers.
