About the project
Food security issues are already an issue for many of our neighbors, particularly regarding access to fresh produce. We currently maintain 8 Raised beds in the backyard of our Mission House. Over the past 3 years, through this garden, we have been able to provide 30+ neighbors from our surrounding neighborhoods with a variety of produce from June-November. In addition, we typically end up canning 200-250 jars of assorted produce to support feeding volunteers and neighbors throughout the year. With the addition of the new Community Garden, we will be able to double our capacity, and engage residents in maintaining the garden. In addition, we plan to offer some canning classes in the fall to help people learn how to save produce for use throughout the year.
The Steps
Build the beds and connecting walkways
Fill the beds
Plant the beds
Build the storage shed

Why we‘re doing it
Food security is already a critical need for many of our neighbors. This project will help relieve that need for many residents and give them healthy food to supplement their existing food supply.
