Our Summer Garden!

the project

RBSCC Project Ex.I.T.O (Project Success) Grows will allow students to successfully complete a summer/fall harvest. Students will be planting and harvesting summer/fall vegetables. The students will then make meals out of what they grow and enjoy their hard work! This program introduces the students to healthy eating habits as well as environmental awareness.

the steps

1. Raise money

2. Buy supplies with students

3. Create compost

4. Compost

5. Students with supervision will build 2 garden boxes

6. Students will prepare the boxes & plant vegetables

7. Take care of garden

8. Harvest what they have grown

9. Prepare and enjoy their vegetables

why we're doing it

Unhealthy eating is a huge issue for young students, especially those who live in large cities and do not have the resources or available places to buy fresh fruits and vegetables. By showing the students how to garden and introduce them to foods that some them have never tried before it will be eye opening a experience for a healthy lifestyle change.
