About the project
Rock Against Dementia (RAD) began when Wayne Mesker attended a screening of "Alive Inside" at the Cleveland International Film Festival in March of 2014. He was so moved by the film & by the vision of the film's Director Michael Rossato-Bennett, he decided to throw his contacts & connections behind the Film's mission. That day he came up with the idea for Rock Against Dementia, an annual global celebration to raise awareness of dementua and provide support to those living with the condition.
Soon atfer, Wayne became the Outreach and Creative Advocay Director for The Alive Inside Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit, dedicated to healing loneliness and disconnection in all our lives, especially in the lives of the very young and the very old living with dementia.
Since then we've been recognized by the mayor of Cleveland and the Ohio Govenor for our hard work and committement to this imporatnt issue. We partner with communities to connect the generations and shift our relationship with life, aging and growing up. We seek to end loneliness using empathy, music, storytelling and film.
