the project
As Native Detroiters we travel great lengths to attend festivals and events. I have fond memories of family trips to different events in the suburbs. I also have memories of busing or simply missing out on those annual events because they were inaccessible when our car broke down. Asibara Forest has planned a harvest festival like no other to be hosted on the East Side of Detroit. The festival will take place October 29th and here’s what we have planned…
- WE ARE GROWING PUMPKINS ON THE FARM. The community will be able to learn about the Process of growing pumpkins from seed to harvest and PICK THEIR OWN PUMPKINS
- PUMPKIN DECORATING & GAMES Like pumpkin ring, toss and pumpkin bowling
- It’s not a Harvest Festival without HOT CIDER & DOUGHNUTS
- We will have a BOUNCE HOUSE And other games/activities for children of all ages
- Kids can enjoy climbing our HAY BALE PYRAMID
- FACE PAINTING
- and more!
We don't have to leave the D to enjoy a family friendly festivals! Come as you are or come costumed to enjoy a day of harvest fun with us.
the steps
We started planning this event over 5 months ago beginning with growing our pumpkins in June! Once we receive our donor funds from Ioby we will be able to:
- Finalize booking our inflatable entertainment, face painting and harvest fest experiences
- Continue maintaining our pumpkins (and saving them from local deer, rabbits and ground hogs)
- Purchase event essentials for public safety and enjoyment
- Pay for the permits and youth gift bags
why we're doing it
Cider Mill experiences are lifelong memories that all children deserve, and we are bringing those memory budling moments straight to you.
Detroit Residents deserve better. We shouldn't have to travel out of our city or downtown to enjoy a day of family fun. We are investing love, time and energy to our community, empowering our neighbors and Creating a thriving, vibrant community. With the Detroit hustle that only a Native Detroiter can bring we have curated a day of good vibes and family friendly fun.
