the project

The Today Show and Carson Daly and the National Gardening Association ( have given us the incredible gift of an edible teaching garden. Now we need to salt away some funds to help us build a sustainable curriculum around it, maintain it, further beautify our campus, and involve the wider community.

the steps

A detailed visioning and budgeting process is already underway. The garden itself will be revealed to the world on The Today Show soon! Ongoing, our school staff, parents, and children will work and learn side by side.

why we're doing it

We believe that hands-on gardening experience will be the beginning of our kids' commitment to healthy eating and environmental stewardship. We are thrilled to be able to build this teaching garden in the context of a New York City public school and a charter school working in close partnership. We know the process will be filled with ongoing opportunities for collaboration and growth.

The Today Show, working closely with the National Gardening Association, spent $35,000 on this incredible project. We want to create a fund for ongoing expansion, maintenance, curriculum development, and related projects.

SUBTOTAL = $5,000
