About the project

We need $14,000 to fund visual-arts education for every child in our school for the 2013-2014 school year through Studio in a School. For just $50 per child, we can give every student at PS 705 the gift of working with a professional artist every single week.

Principal Soto must make tough choices with her budget and our gift will entirely fund our children's visual arts education, freeing her resources for use elsewhere. Studio in a School is a turnkey program: All we have to do is fund it, and all kids at PS 705 will reap the benefit.

PS 705 is a brand-new school in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. It is a warm and welcoming community of learners and their families. It is richly diverse, and entreprenurial in spirit. Like all New York City public schools, it struggles to provide the arts enrichment our children deserve. Please give as generously as you can: Fund a kid, a classroom, a whole grade. $50 per child will secure this enriching experience for everyone. However, donations smaller than $50 are gratefully accepted as well. Any amount will help us work toward our goal and is deeply appreciated. Thank you!

All donations made on ioby are tax-deductible!

The Steps

1. Raise the money.

2. Give it to Principal Soto.

3. She'll use it to pay for the services of professional artist, through Studio in a School.

4. We'll have an art exhibit and auction at the end of the year where we celebrate our efforts.

Why we‘re doing it

We are doing this to ensure that all children at our school have equal access to visual-arts education.

P.S. Click on "budget" to see the breakdown and understand why our total goal is higher than the $14,000 we need to fund the program. Until we have 501(c)(3) status, ioby needs to "sponsor" us, and there are other administrative fees as well.
