About the project
We have extended our campaign. We've had so many wonderful folks support us and join Anchorage Community House as members that in honor of our 1st year on October 16th, we are going to continue to offer discounted memberships through this fundraising campaign until October 14th. Join as an individual member ($50) or family member ($100) and you'll also receive an invite to our birthday bash on October 15th. The birthday bash is for members only. Oh and one final perk, your membership will be good until 12/31/17, that's 3 free additional months of membership.
Anchorage Community House (ACH) hosts Anchorage's only Tool Library. Since its launch in May we've been receiving community feedback and what Anchorage needs are food preservation tools, such as vacuum sealers, food dehydrators, fruit steamers and food mills. It has been a fantastic year for crops and foraging in Anchorage and we want to have the tools to help you preserve the harvest to enjoy throughout the coming winter months without the necessary investment to procure or store these seasonal tools. While most of the tools in ACH's Tool Library have been donated, most food preservation items will need to be purchased and we need professional grade equipment to make your job as easy as possible and withstand repeated use. We would like to purchase the following items: Professional Grade Vacuum Sealers, Dehydrators, Food Mills, Meat Grinder, Sausage Maker, Fruit Steamer, Smoker and Meat Slicer.
The Steps
Raise our funds! We'll be getting the word out about the ACH Tool Library and this fund raising campaign via direct contact with friends, family, members and partners as well as through social media and through our booth at the Spenard Farmers Market.
While raising funds we will also be soliticing community feedback on the items we propose to purchase to ensure that we are picking the right kinds of tools to meet the need.
Once the funds are raised, we will purchase the tools and make them available in our tool library. Complete purchases by 10/15/16 and make tools available before 10/31/16 depending on shipping time for those tools we need to order online.
Why we‘re doing it
ACH has heard from the community and it wants to take full advantage of its increased harvesting potential. We want to provide the tools to make that happen. ACH realizes that the expense and storage of seasonally used tools can be a barrier. By pitching in with a donation, you can help us purchase these tools, store them and maintain them and you can then check them out when you need them. Collectively we can purchase better tools to make preserving our harvests easier.
