the project

Are you interested in joining the pollinator pathway, but don't know where to start? The new and expanded Weston Pollinator Pathway Gardens throughout Weston, will model the easy steps you can take to become a better land steward and showcase the native plants and shrubs that provide a welcoming and safe environment for our pollinators and wildlife.

Please get involved, join the pathway! Every donation you make will be doubled by the Sustainable CT Community Match Grant.

the steps

Q1 2020 Step 1 - Raise Funds

Q2 2020 Step 2 - Prepare Site

Q3 2020 Step 3 - Plant Native Garden

2021 / 2022 Step 4 - Ready for the town to enjoy with Intermittent watch and weed for 2 years until established

2023 Step 5 - Sit back, relax, enjoy your maintenance-free town landscape that works with nature, instead of against it.

why we're doing it

Weston plays a pivotal role in the Pollinator Pathway and the Green Corridor. We connect to many towns; Wilton, Westport, Fairfield, Easton, and Redding. We have two major waterways running through our town, and we have an abundance of preserves and woods. Together we can, and should, create a diverse ecosystem in our own backyard that will naturally take care of the pests (and good guys and gals) that we spray away.

Weston already has existing pollinator-friendly plantings on the town-owned property; Lachat Town Farm Community Garden and the Weston School Campus. With your support, our goal is to create greater awareness of the pollinator pathway on an ongoing basis.

It is our belief that the Pollinator Pathway movement will educate and unite our community in a positive way, as we all move towards a safer, friendlier and more considerate way of living. Our existing and future planned pollinator pathways will form a lasting collaboration with local leaders, students, scout organizations as well as our friends and neighbors. Our mission is to create native landscapes, that are not only beautiful but also sustainable.
