BEGINNING PHASE OF RAINWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM

the project

We are designing and implementing a rainwater harvesting system at our teaching center in Las Marias, Puerto Rico. We would like this system to serve as an educational tool for visitors of the center. It will also provide an alternative, reliable water source for our farm. We need your help to raise the funds to complete the installation. Any donation is much appreciated!

the steps

First we will design the rainwater harvesting system. Once all of the details are finalized we will acquire the materials necessary. Finally we will install the system into our teaching center.

why we're doing it

This project has a multifunctional value for Plenitud and the community. Our town water supply is currently an unreliable source. This water harvesting system will provide water security at our teaching center which often hosts more than 50 people at a time. This system will also serve as an educational tool both within and outside our local community.

Light weight structure with trellis as sun protection for cisterns - $300 ~ Paid for by Plenitud

Hey Everyone!

Just sending out an update on the current stages of the Rainwater Harvesting System at the teaching center here at Plenitud!

We are very grateful for all the help we have recieved for this project, both with the fundraising and the implementation process thus far. Since January we have had the opportunity to host multiple schools from all over the United States participating in Alternative Spring Breaks. We were fortunate enough to be able to focus in and work with a couple of these groups specifically with the Rainwater project. Xavier University from Ohio spent their whole week with us with an intentional focus in Water Conservation and Sustainability. We were able to collaborate with them in the teaching and designing of a system for the teaching center. Following this group, we began implementing their design with University of Massachusetts in Boston.

After a few months of the fundraiser for the Rainwater Harvesting System we have reached beyond our goal!
