the project

The program will include five parts:

i.    It will include mentoring, tutoring, conflict resolution, and career choice. The mentoring is advising, and training our youth from the age groups from 8yrs-12yrs and 13yrs-18yrs.

ii.    Tutoring in subjects that the children are having problems getting help in such as math, English, science, history etc. We will be partnering with colleges in the surrounding areas to volunteer hours of community service.

iii.    Conflict resolution conceptualized as the method and processes involved in facilitating and peaceful ending of conflict and retribution, for example peer to peer interactions as well as familial interactions. Our focus is to teach a restorative engagement process.

iv.    Career choice will be introducing the youth with different profession and professional individuals. We will also be partnering with local companies that will help the youth with exploring career opportunities.

v.    We also partner with Junior Achievement, they will avail useful tools that will allow our program the opportunity to teach our young people useful information regarding money management and entrepreneurship skills.

the steps

•    We will be doing community outreach/neighborhood canvassing.

•    We will be working with faith base organizations such as churches to work together offer program services to members.

•    We will also be connecting with local colleges to use their students that have to do community service.

•    We also have sign up volunteers to join in.

why we're doing it

The importance of this type of program will be a resourceful tool to the youth who aren’t looking to further their education. It will also build positive peer relationships and will help with confidence. I am tethered to the commitment of helping the youth of our communities and it was programs such as the one we have put tougher that helped me and introduced me to different experiences. It takes a village to raise a child and we want to help support these youth.
